DUST

DUST

Dust (real name Sooraya Qadir), is a fictional character in the Marvel Comics X-Men-related series. Sooraya is a mutant with the ability to transform her body into a malleable cloud of dust. The X-Men travel to Afghanistan to rescue Sooraya, whose abilities made her the target of slavers. Born in Afghanistan, Sooraya is attacked by a slave trader attempting to remove her traditional niqāb; almost instinctively, she lashes out with her powers and flays him alive with her sand-like dust. The X-Men, having heard the situation, traveled to Afghanistan and rescue her, where she is brought to America and becomes a student of the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning. After the actions of the scarlet witch (in which millions of mutants lost their powers), Sooraya remains one of the few mutants to keep their powers after the event. She is currently a member of the Young X-Men team. She is a rare example of a positive Muslim comic book character.

Dust can transform herself into an explosive cloud of sand-like silicon particles and maintain control of her sand form (for instance scouring the flesh from her enemies' bones like a sandstorm, shredding steel, or forming a human-shaped body), before reforming at will. However, telekinetic or similarly powered beings can take control of her sand particles. According to Jean Grey and Professor X, her dust form makes her harder to detect telepathically and according to New X-Men vol. 2 #42 somewhat resistant to magic.Dust has also demonstrated a major weakness to water. Her sand form has been stopped by being doused with water several times in combat. She can also be defeated if the air she travels through is manipulated (such as during her fight with Wind Dancer). Her sand form is also vulnerable to extremes of heat, causing it to crystallise into glass, paralysing her. Like many transmorphs, she reverts back to her human form if exhausted or knocked unconscious.

BEAK

Barnell Bohusk, currently known as Blackwing, formerly known as Beak, is a fictional character associated with the X-Men and its spinoff the Exiles. Currently, Beak wears an advanced body suit that gives him the ability to fly, superhuman strength, and energy blasts, as well as giving him enhanced protection.

Beak's abilities had probably not fully developed when he lost his mutant powers. However, it is known that he had hollow bones, enhanced agility, and that his entire body was covered in feathers. He had demonstrated a limited ability to glide, but had not mastered controlled flight. His endurance appeared to be enhanced as he has fallen several stories and dusted himself off and gone about his business as if nothing happened. A fall from such a height would have severely injured an ordinary human. He also had the ability to peck.

Thesis Help

As a working student, Time Management is really important for me. I have to balance everything for both work and school. But honestly, it is not an easy task especially if I have school project to finish and upcoming exams to take. I have to go to school every morning and have to go to work every afternoon and the only time that I can open my notes or do my stuffs is before I go to bed every evening. Just like right now, my teacher is requiring us to submit a thesis discussing the upcoming 2010 Political Election. Now, the problem is, I do not know where and how to start. I need to pass my academic subjects or else I will not graduate. Good thing a friend refers me to www.ProfEssays.com. It is a site that helps students like me. They provide thesis help with high quality, original and professionally done. I’m so thankful that I found this site!

FANTOMEX

Fantomex is the name of a fictional character associated with the X-Men. The character initially comes across as a mix of Fantômas and Diabolik but this is all revealed to be misdirection, as he is an escaped experiment from the Weapon Plus Program. Fantomex was created by the Weapon Plus Program to serve as a super-sentinel against Earth's mutant population. Through experimentation with human-machine hybridization, Weapon Plus created a population of techorganic organisms whose living tissue was fused with sentinel nanotechnology at the cellular level.

Fantomex has an external nervous system referred to as E.V.A. He has mentioned that E.V.A. emerged from his mouth during his time in The World and developed into a techno-organic flying saucer-like vessel. The relationship between E.V.A and Fantomex is symbiotic, so if E.V.A. experiences pain when she is not within Fantomex, he will feel it as well. When E.V.A. is separated from his body, Fantomex feels no pain and seems able to ignore most injuries. Along with this symbiotic relationship, Fantomex is linked to E.V.A. via telepathy. He can see through E.V.A.'s point of view and can take control of her movement. However, this requires concentration on the part of Fantomex. Fantomex can create extremely realistic illusions, he calls this ability "misdirection". Moreover, E.V.A, as a bio-mechanical being, can reshape her body into a variety of forms, fly "herself" and can generate energy discharges to be used as weapons.

Fantomex contains multiple brains for parallel and independent thinking as well as nano-active blood. He also maintains an internal back-up nervous system which can be engaged if E.V.A. is damaged. However, this system is less complex than E.V.A. and prevents Fantomex from seeing colors. He can expertly read the body language of others and is a master at misdirection. This also allows him to create telepathic illusions that can fool some of the most powerful telepaths, including Professor X and Jean Grey, who also cannot tell whether he is lying or not. Fantomex can also enter a trance state and perform crucial tasks such as performing surgery on himself. In this state, he can also recover faster while placed in water. His mask incorporates telepathy-blocking ceramics.

SIRYN

Siryn (Theresa Rourke Cassidy) is a Marvel Comics superhero, associated with the X-Men. Like her father, the X-Men’s Banshee, Siryn is an Irish mutant, who possesses a "sonic scream" capable of incapacitating and injuring an opponent's hearing and sending powerful vibrations through the air. She can use these vibrations to fly. Her name refers to the Sirens of Greek mythology. Siryn was raised by Banshee’s cousin and arch-nemesis Black Tom Cassidy without Banshee's knowledge. By her early teens, she left Black Tom and joined the X-Men offshoots X-Force and X-Factor.

Siryn is a mutant who possesses sonic powers similar to those of her father, Banshee, although she is able to use her powers in ways that Banshee apparently cannot. Like her father, she has the ability to emit high-decibel "sonic screams" to create various sonic effects with her vocal cords. She can also vary the pitch to deflect projectiles, and she even used it to deflect lasers once. She possesses an enhanced sense of hearing and can use her voice for echolocation to detect objects. While screaming, Siryn is able to fly at the speed of sound. Siryn has especially potent sonic attacks. She can shatter objects; project concussive blasts of sonic force (a "sonic lance"); or cause immediate pain, nausea/vomiting, and unconsciousness. She has shown a degree of resistance to what would be harmful and painful sounds and vibrations to normal humans or mutants without sonic-based powers. She also possesses psionic powers to create a force field that protects her against her own sonic vibrations to assist her ability to fly, and to help direct her sonic powers.

She is vulnerable to losing the ability to use her power effectively by overstraining and overusing her sonic screams or injury to her throat and vocal chords. She also lacks fine control of her abilities when in extreme distress: screaming in pain during her pregnancy, she unwillingly shattered every window in the complex, causing the medical staff to writhe in agony.

Unlike her father, Siryn is able to influence and control other human beings with her sonics, as well as cause them to enter a hypnotic state. Siryn can also cause the intended person to fall in love with her without regard to gender or sexual orientation and carry out her wishes and commands, like mythical Sirens. Siryn once utilized this ability on Spider-man, forcing him to divulge the truth about the Decimation of the mutants.

In addition, she can also prevent others from hearing external sounds by a certain vocal pitch so that she can secretly deliver messages to them.

LEGION

LEGION

Legion (David Charles Haller) is a Marvel Comics character, created by writer Chris Claremont and artist Bill Sienkiewicz. David is the mutant son of Charles Xavier and Israeli Holocaust survivor Gabrielle Haller. He has severe mental illness, including a form of dissociative identity disorder (more commonly known as multiple personality disorder), with each of his personas controlling one of his many superpowers. His stories typically revolve around bitterness towards his father, and in Legion Quest, a misplaced attempt to redeem himself in his father's eyes.

Legion is an Omega-level mutant that has multiple personalities. At least the first, Jemail, was the mind of a terrorist that David somehow absorbed into himself. According to Karma, the only way he can absorb other people into his mind is if he is right next to them when they die or through psychic powers like telepathy. While two others, Jack Wayne and Cyndi made themselves known, it is unknown how many other personalities there were or could have been. The manifestations of Legion's individual powers are generally associated with his different personalities, with each personality controlling a different power. The cumulative powers of all his personalities make him one of the strongest mutants in existence. He has manifested the powers of telepathy through the personality of Jemail Karami, telekinesis through the personality of Jack Wayne, pyrokinesis through the personality of Cyndi and teleportation through another unknown personality. Apparently, Legion's core personality finally took control of his splinter personalities' powers, since he manifested psionic abilities when he traveled back in time.

In the current New Mutants run, Legion is shown as inhabited by thousands of personalities, each with its own superhuman ability, some of which have physical manifestations that manifest such as lycanthropy and a prehensile tongue. According to Cannonball, this is a new part of his power. Some of the other powers he manifests include super speed, flight, x-ray vision, heat absorption, super strength, matter animation and sonic screams. Dr. Nemesis reveals that because his mind has become so fractured due to the many personalities, he instinctively created a doll named Moira, when one personality gets hold of the doll, it controls his body.
