ALLERIA WINDRUNNER

Alleria Windrunner was the head scout of the Alliance Expedition to Draenor. Alleria Windrunner is the eldest of the Windrunner sisters, all of whom have served Quel'Thalas and the Alliance with distinction. She also had a younger brother. Alleria always wore a necklace given to her by her parents, an exquisite piece containing an emerald, a ruby, and a sapphire.
Alleria is a superb forest fighter who prefers solitude and travels with others only when forced to do so. She speaks infrequently and only in short sentences. She shows passion only where orcs are concerned, hunting them ruthlessly and without mercy. However, much of this personality dissolved when she rekindled her relationship with Turalyon.
In battle Alleria travels in forests whenever possible and prefers to strike from hiding — especially when attacking orcs, who she believes have no honor and therefore can be killed in any way she sees fit. In battle, she uses her great speed and mobility to weave in and out of the fight, taking point blank shots with maximum efficiency. If forced into melee in a situation where she absolutely cannot fire her bow, she swings it as a quarterstaff. She wields no other weapons — Alleria's special composite bow was her father's, and she employs it exclusively. She is also known to wield a sword with great skill.

SYLVANAS WINDRUNNER

Once the Ranger-General of Silvermoon, Sylvanas Windrunner was murdered by the death knight, Arthas, and brought back as a creature of undeath. After regaining her free will, she rebelled against the Lich King and the Scourge and became the founder of the Forsaken faction of undead, who are allied with the Horde. She has styled herself the Dark Lady, Queen of the Forsaken, an expansion of her original title, "the Banshee Queen".

As leader of the Forsaken and the Horde on the Eastern Kingdoms, Sylvanas is a military genius. The middle sister of Alleria and Vereesa Windrunner, she was Ranger-General of the high elf kingdom of Quel'Thalas. She fought valiantly against Arthas when he invaded Quel'Thalas, but during the fall of Silvermoon, Arthas raised her as an undead minion as a form of petty revenge. When the Lich King's hold on his minions weakened, Sylvanas, among other undead, regained her free will, and she led her forces against the dreadlords who had taken hold over Lordaeron, ultimately affirming her sovereignty by killing off two of the nathrezim and bending the third, Varimathras, to her will. She renamed her force of self-aware undead the Forsaken and declared herself their queen.

Sylvanas was a member of the prominent Windrunner family of the high elves. Her siblings were Alleria, Vereesa, and at least two other brothers (one named Lirath - as seen in the novel Beyond the Dark Portal - and the other name is not revealed). Her family lived at Windrunner Spire in the tranquil forests of Quel'Thalas. Sylvanas joined the rangers and eventually became their leader, rising to the rank of Ranger-General of Silvermoon, military leader of all high elven forces.
Sylvanas, the Banshee Queen, and leader of the Forsaken traveled to Quel'Thalas for her own reasons, but soon encountered the traitor Dar'Khan, confronting him in the ruins of Silvermoon. She aided Kalecgos in attempting to stop the traitor from claiming the Sunwell's energies; though she was initially unsuccessful, she distracted Dar'Khan long enough for Anveena to regain her power and vaporize him. Sylvanas agreed to keep Anveena's identity a secret in the interests of preventing Arthas from gaining the Sunwell's power.
Though in life Sylvanas was a high elf, her original model in the World of Warcraft was that of a tall female night elf, but this is because that was the closest model available before The Burning Crusade. During the Wrath of the Lich King beta she was given a retextured blood elf model, and by patch 3.0.2 she was given a unique undead high elf model more reminiscent of how she appeared in The Frozen Throne. Interestingly, the outfit she wears in the Sunwell Trilogy is more similar to those of Sentinel archers than the high elf rangers in the same book.

ARATOR THE REDEEMER

Arator the Redeemer or Arator Windrunner is the half-elven son of the high elven ranger Alleria Windrunner and the human paladin Turalyon. He can be found in Honor Hold in Outland's Hellfire Peninsula.

Arator was only a child when Turalyon and Alleria accompanied Archmage Khadgar beyond the Dark Portal as part of the Alliance Expedition to Draenor. He was apparently well-known by members of the Expedition, including Danath Trollbane, who called him "Little Arator". Turalyon and Alleria, along with the rest of the Expedition, were believed to have died when Khadgar sealed the Dark Portal. Twenty years later, Lord Kazzak reopened the Portal and crossed over into Draenor, now known as Outland. Arator, who has grown up to become a paladin in his father's footsteps, accompanied the Alliance reinforcements from Stormwind and Nethergarde to Honor Hold, where he remains as he searches for his missing parents.

Arator is one of the few known half-elf characters and the only known in-game half-elf (as Kalec is actually a dragon). Ironically, as the son of Alliance-loyal Alleria, he is the nephew of Horde leader Sylvanas Windrunner. (Although Sylvanas was at one time loyal to the Alliance)

He had green eyes like his mother Alleria, and many other half-elves. However as of Patch 3.1, his eyes are blue similar to normal high elves.

Interestingly enough, there is no mention of him in the novel Beyond the Dark Portal, even though his parents' relationship is explored in detail. It is possible that his birth has been retconned to after the expedition lost contact with Azeroth, but this would mean that Arator grew up in Outland, directly contradicting his own words. Another possibility is that Alleria chose not to tell Turalyon of their half-elf son and abandoned him in someone else's care, likely because of the facts that not only were she and Turalyon estranged at the time, but that she was in a near-suicidal frenzy due to the Horde butchering most of her family and her overwhelming desire for revenge upon them.

VAREDIS

Varedis is an Illidari Demon Hunter who can be found inside the Ruins of Karabor in Shadowmoon Valley. He runs the training grounds for future demon hunters.

According to Altruis the Sufferer, Varedis was one of five warriors sent to Illidan by Kael'thas to be trained as demon hunters - the first time that blood elves were allowed to do so. Illidan put the blood elves through excruciating trials that would have defeated most fully trained demon hunters. Three of the blood elves died during the training, and a fourth was driven to insanity. Varedis was the only one to succeed.

Varedis turned out to be something of a prodigy; not only had he succeeded in his training, but he was displaying better command of his powers than many veteran demon hunters. Illidan saw the great potential in him and assigned three master demon hunters to train him further. Within a year, Varedis had surpassed them. Still seeking more, Varedis infiltrated the Shadow Council and learned of the Book of Fel Names, a tome said to contain the true name of every demon in existence. His power may be connected to the book, as ripping the pages from it takes some of his power away.

When Varedis returned to the Black Temple, Illidan placed him in charge of training additional demon hunters at the Ruins of Karabor

VALEERA SANGUINAR

Valeera Sanguinar, along with Broll Bearmantle, was a companion of Varian Wrynn. When Valeera was young, her family was killed by bandits. She survived both the bandits and the Scourge, eking out a living by stealing what she needed; however, when trying to steal a shaman's talisman, she was caught and jailed. Showing her fighting prowess by injuring several of the guards in the process, it's possible that is how she attracted the attention of the Arena promoter. The day before she was to implement her escape plan, Valeera was sold to Rehgar Earthfury so she could join Bloodeye Redfist and Broll Bearmantle in team combat in the Crimson Ring. Soon after, Bloodeye was killed and Broll told Valeera the stories of both Rehgar and Bloodeye. Because she was inflicted with the fel energies of a demon, her addiction was exacerbated. During Valeera's lapses of self control, the demon would occasionally gain influence and take control of her body. She was left behind in Ironforge to adjust from her withdrawal from magic while the rest of her companions embarked on a mission to rescue Marshal Windsor. Secluded in her room, the demon tried to take control of her body by feeding her feelings of abandonment using visions of her deceased parents to verbally abuse her. But she regained control of her senses when a vision of Aegwynn told her she was not alone and that she had people like Broll and Varian who loved her. She later rendezvoused with Varian and Broll after their mission, informing them that she's better and in control of herself again.

aleera appears in World of Warcraft: The Comic. Described as being "young, hot and bitter", she has come to realise that the world has become a very different place since the destruction of Quel'Thalas. It was said early on that she is physically attracted to the main human protagonist of the series.. This idea has not been visited in the comic and Varian even refers to her as a child several times.

PATHALEON THE CALCULATOR

Pathaleon the Calculator is the last boss of the Mechanar, which is one of the satellite structures of Tempest Keep. He is the mouthpiece of his demon-crazed master, Kael'thas Sunstrider. He is the head of all the blood elves' devious schemes and has been connected thus far with the massive red crystal at Fallen Sky Ridge in the west of Hellfire Peninsula and a mysterious scheme dubbed "Project at Firewing Point". He is also Kael'thas' personal envoy between all Manaforges in the Netherstorm.

He is one of the many blood elves that followed Kael'thas to Outland and joined Illidan, until they defected from him for the Burning Legion.

Kael'thas left a huge red crystal at Fallen Sky Ridge as an experiment, which caused the creation of the colossi and threatened the security of the zone. Pathaleon oversaw that experiment, but the Cenarion Expedition sent adventurers to destroy the colossi and then to heal the land. Pathaleon called to Goliathon to defeat the intruders but the king of the colossi was defeated.

Although this experiment was a failure, he continued with the project at Firewing Point, and as a vengeance to the druids he exploded a prototype of a mana bomb in the Cenarion Thicket. However, the Horde and Alliance sent adventurers that destroyed his plans and exploded the proper mana bomb within Firewing Point.
Link
Pathaleon spawns 3 elemental adds every 30-45 seconds, which cast arcane missiles. Like most blood elves, he has a single target mana drain ability called mana tap, which puts a corresponding mana tap buff on him - it can be purged or spellstolen. Regardless of the number of mana taps on him, he will occasionally cast arcane torrent, an AoE silence effect - it has a short duration, and can largely be ignored. Pathaleon will also occasionally mind control a random player for 12 seconds.

HALDURON BRIGHTWING

Halduron Brightwing is a level ?? elite blood elf who can found within the Sunfury Spire of Silvermoon City. He serves under Regent Lord Lor'themar Theron as the Ranger-General of Silvermoon, and is both the blood elves' military commander on Azeroth and the leader of the Farstriders.

As of Patch 3.3, Brightwing will also appear to the entrance of the Sunwell during the quests to restore the fabled sword Quel'Delar.

Halduron served under the Alliance of Lordaeron during the Second War against the Horde. Before the Third War, Sylvanas Windrunner was the Ranger-General of Silvermoon, the highest authority amongst the Farstriders. With her death, a void was left, leaving the high elven rangers without a leader. The Farstriders soon chose Halduron Brightwing as the new leader. As he was a great ranger, he was promoted to Ranger-General of Silvermoon, and rules the rangers to this day. At the same time he was promoted, his commanding officer, Lor'themar Theron, was made Regent Lord of Quel'Thalas. Like Lor'themar, Halduron played a crucial role in protecting Quel'Thalas from the Scourge during the re-founding of Silvermoon City, and is privy to the true identity of Anveena.
