Synopsis: Chicago native Kitty Pryde discovers her mutant phasing powers. Xavier sends Jean Grey on a mission to recruit her, only to find out that she has already been won over by Lance Alvers, otherwise known as the mutant Avalanche. Kitty joins the X-Men as Shadowcat at the end of the episode.
