WOLVERINE
Wolverine is very angry and is quick to fly into a rage. He can be very rude and confrontational, but he cares deeply for his friends and will put his life on the line for them. He seems very cold and emotionally distant, but he has put aside his aloofness to mentor some of the younger X-Men, such as Kitty Pryde and Jubilee. He is not quick to trust new people, as he relies heavily on his instincts, honed by over a century of life, but will eventually warm up to them.
Wolverine is a short, well built man. Underneath his mask, Wolverine has muttonchops and strangely shaped hair that vaguely resembles the shape of his mask.
In most games in the Marvel vs Capcom series, Wolverine wears his classic costume. On his mask, there are two black or dark blue "fins" where his eyes are. He has two blue shoulder pads and gloves with easy access holes for his claws to come out. In Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Wolverine wears his more recent costume from Astonishing X-Men. This suit features a bit more blue.

STORM

Storm is a mutant who possesses the ability to psionically control weather over limited distances (sometimes referred to as atmokinesis). She can create any kind of precipitation: fog, snow, sleet, rain, etc.She can also create winds up to and including hurricane-force, as well as controlling lightning and other electrical atmospheric phenomena, which she can direct manually. She can also manipulate the wind to support her body weight and allow her to fly. She has also shown ability to control and direct ocean currents, but to what extent is unknown. She can control the climate and weather so precisely that she can create a rainstorm around her, yet remain untouched by the rain. Storm has also demonstrated the ability to control natural forces that include cosmic storms, solar wind, ocean currents, and the electromagnetic field. She has demonstrated the ability to separate water molecules into oxygen and hydrogen via electrolysis, allowing her to breathe underwater. While in outer space, she is able to affect and manipulate the interstellar and intergalactic mediums. Storm can alter her visual perceptions so as to see the universe in terms of energy patterns, detecting the flow of kinetic, thermal and electromagnetic energy behind weather phenomena and can bend this energy to her will. Storm is widely regarded to be one of the most powerful mutants on Earth. Iron Man has stated that she is possibly an Omega-level mutant--one with virtually unlimited power and potential.

Storm is quite possibly the most versatile of all the Marvel characters in the game. She can be played both aggressively and defensively, possessing a variety of ways to close in on opponents. Her combo attacks--both ground and air--are potent and inflict solid damage, especially when chained into her Ice Storm Hyper Combo. Storm can easily keep opponents at bay with her Whirlwind and Typhoon attacks and her ability to fly helps to keep her out of harm's way.
Storm's Hyper Combos are some of the most powerful in the game, particularly Ice Storm, which has been vastly improved over its previous incarnations. It does tremendous damage on its own, but is even more dangerous when placed at the end of a combo attack and does considerable chip damage when blocked. Lightning Storm has a smaller radius of effect than before, but does more concentrated damage in an Air Combo when cancelled during Lightning Attack. Her third Hyper Combo, Elemental Rage can also be worked easily into a ground combo.

SENTINELS

Sentinels are a variety of mutant-hunting robots, appearing in the Marvel Comics universe. A Sentinel appears in X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes and Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds. The Sentinels were invented by Dr. Bolivar Trask after he found that his own son had developed mutant powers. After being unable to suppress his son's growing mutant powers, Trask studied the nature of powerful mutations and came to the conclusion that mutants would eventually supplant normal humans as Earth's dominant race if no action was taken to control them. Soon after, Trask and a team of scientists developed the first Sentinel prototypes in a secret laboratory, intending to use them to capture and destroy America's mutants in an ambush. However, Trask realised that not all mutants were hostile to humans, and helped the X-Men to destroy his Sentinel manufacturing facility. Though Sentinels are commonly seen as autonomous robots, some manned models have been developed, with the Sentinel's chest area housing a cockpit for the pilot. In addition, the anti-mutant protocols developed for autonomous Sentinels require them to protect humans from mutants, though their combat programming gives Sentinels a high degree of leeway as to how they do this. Thus, massive collateral damage is often the norm when Sentinels are deployed to capture or kill mutants.

In Sentinel's MvC3 ending, the unit that defeated Galactus begins to disseminate battle data and an unknown energy source, gathered from from Galactus after his defeat, amongst other Sentinels. This improves all Sentinels' combat performance by 250%
A group of Sentinels are then seen alerting the Master Mold about their victories over various groups, mentioning reports listing slain targets under categories like Mavericks, Mutants, Street Fighters, Darkstalkers, and even Divine Beings. They then mention they are preparing to exterminate a portion of the human race, possibly to prevent any mutant or supernatural potential from ever resurfacing in humanity again.

SABRETOOTH

Sabretooth (Victor Creed) is a fictional character, a Marvel Comics supervillain created by writer Chris Claremont and artist/co-writer John Byrne. The character first appeared in Iron Fist #14. Originally portrayed as a non-powered serial killer, Sabretooth is later written as a mutant who possesses bestial superhuman abilities, most notably a rapid healing factor, razor-sharp fangs and claws, and superhuman senses. He is a vicious assassin responsible for numerous deaths both as a paid mercenary and for his personal pleasure. The character Wolverine] is depicted as his long-time enemy, although conflicting accounts have been given as to the origin of their feud. It is also known that he and Sabretooth were victims of the Cold War supersoldier program Weapon X, and that Sabretooth saw Wolverine as competition and tried to make his life miserable. While Wolverine is depicted as suppressing his more savage qualities, Sabretooth does the opposite and embraces them.

Sabretooth's primary mutant power was an accelerated healing process that enabled him to regenerate damaged or destroyed areas of his anatomy with far greater efficiency than an ordinary human. Originally, the speed of Sabretooth's healing factor's was in proportion to the wound's severity; for example, he could fully recover from an ordinary gunshot wound within minutes or injuries as severe as a broken back and severed spine within days. However, Sabretooth's healing ability was dramatically increased in recent years due to various augmentation procedures. Sabretooth could fully heal from injuries that result in massive tissue damage or loss such as multiple gunshot wounds, slashes, puncture wounds, blunt force trauma, and severe burns within a matter of moments.

PSYLOCKE

Psylocke is a character that appears in Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, and also appears in the first Marvel Vs. Capcom as a helper character.
Psylocke was born Elisabeth Glorianna "Betsy" Braddock and raised in England. Born in the small town of Maldon, Essex, Betsy and her brothers had a very privileged life. She is the twin sister of Brian Braddock, better known as the superhero Captain Britain. She eventually came to join the X-Men and learn how to better use her powers after being rescued from Spiral and the Mojo World by The New Mutants. Some time later, in a desperate attempt to save her teammates from being murders by the Reavers, she activated the Siege Perilous portal, given to the X-Men by Roma as a last resort. Beings who entered the portal were cosmically judged and reborn into another life, given a "clean slate".
After emerging from the Siege Perilous, Psylocke was found by the Hand, a ninja clan. Their leader, Matsu'o Tsurayaba, had contacted Spiral in order to save the life of his brain-damaged lover, Kwannon. Spiral informed Matsu'o that Psylocke's telepathy could restore Kwannon, and Matsu'o accepted. With some physical and mental conditioning, Psylocke (inhabiting Kwannon's body) became the Hand's prime assassin, taking the name Lady Mandarin. She gained highly remarkable fighting skills and learned to focus her telepathic power into a "psychic knife" which appeared as a dagger of energy projecting outward from her fist. Lady Mandarin's first mission pitted her against Wolverine. Betsy's psychic knife attack revealed Wolverine's memories of who she used to be and allowed her to break free from the Hand's conditioning. Psylocke rejected her role as Lady Mandarin and escaped with Wolverine and Jubilee.

Much later, in an attempt to save Tabitha Smith from Sabretooth (Victor Creed) who had been living at the Mansion while pretending to be mentally handicapped, Psylocke engaged the homicidal mutant in battle. Although a deadly martial artist, she was no physical match for Sabretooth. Finally realizing she had no other choice, she attacked him with her psychic knife. Unfortunately, Creed had been stabbed in the head by Wolverine, losing the part of his brain affected by psionic attacks and her knife had no effect on him. She was already exhausted from their battle and could not manage to fight back, and was consequently mauled by Sabretooth. In a bid to save her life, Archangel and Wolverine went with Doctor Strange into the Crimson Dawn to retrieve a magical liquid that could heal her. The mission was successful, although the healing liquid produced side effects: a red dagger-shaped tattoo appeared over Psylocke's left eye, she gained the ability to hide in and teleport through shadows, and her personality took on a cold edge.

PHOENIX

Jean Grey was the younger daughter of Professor John Grey of the History Department of Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, and his wife Elaine. When Jean was 10 years old, she was playing with her best friend, Annie Richardson, when Annie was hit by an automobile. The emotion that Jean felt as she held her dying friend awakened her own latent telepathic powers, and she experienced Annie's own emotions as she died. This traumatic event left Jean in a withdrawn and deeply depressed state. Moreover, Jean discovered that she couldn't control her newly awakened telepathic abilites, and had to isolate herself from other people to keep hold of her sanity.

Phoenix is physically deceased in the current comic book continuity. In the Age of X series which was issued in January 2011, a powerful psion who bore a striking resemblace to Jean named Revenant appeared, however it was revealed that this was not Jean, but her daughter, Rachel. It was heavily implied that Jean has been reborn as Hope Summers, the 'Mutant Messiah' from X-Men: Messiah Complex and X-Men: Second Coming, but it was later refused by Nick Lowe who said that "Hope is not Jean Grey. Jean Grey is dead." Anyway, Jean showed herself many times in the comics since her death, as her status remains "unknow", since her essence is alive in the White Hot Room finding all the Phoenix pieces that are lost, so she can return to live.
In one of the opening movie, Phoenix appears at the last second where the villains (Doctor Doom, Super Skrull, Dormammu, Magneto, and Galactus whose shadow appears from the smoke) combine their powers and attack Ryu all at once. Phoenix saves him at the last second, using her telekinesis to block the attacks. She then uses her Healing Field in a large form to restore the strength of all the other heroes, and flies forward with Phoenix Rage, facing the villains on her own.

OMEGA RED

Arkady Rossovich was a Russian youth who was subjected to government testing during the early days of the Cold War. Soviet scientists were attempting to create a deadly supersoldier, perhaps in response to Germany's Red Skull and America's Captain America. Arkady was given super strength and stamina, and outfitted with two carbonadium coils that retracted into his arms. Unfortunately, the tests also required him to drain the life force of others to remain active. Code named Omega Red, he was assigned to destroy Wolverine, then an American government agent, but was defeated. Having gone for too long without repowering, Omega Red fell into a coma and was believed dead. Decades later, Omega Red was revived by members of the Hand, the same ninja group that transferred Psylocke's mind to a new body. The sacrifice of their life forces sufficiently powered Omega Red, and he began a new mission to destroy Wolverine and any who would stand in his way..

Arkady Rossovich, aka Omega Red, is a Russian-born mutant with super-human strength, agility, speed, endurance, durability, and reflexes. He is also able to secret a pheremone from his body known as "Death Spores"-poisonous chemicals that kill or sicken anyone in his immediate vicinity. On humans this works instantly, but meta or superhuman beings can withstand the effects for an extended period of time.
Aside from his mutant abilities, Arkady is an excellent hand-to-hand combatant, having recieved training in both Russian and Japanese criminal underworlds. He is also a highly intellegent criminal mastermind.

MARROW

As a child, Sarah was one of the underground-dwelling Morlocks. When Callisto, the Morlocks's leader, kidnapped the X-Man Angel to be her husband, Sarah came across the captive Angel. Sarah believed Angel was beautiful. He would become an idol of worship for her.
When the Marauders decimated the Morlock community, Sarah was also personally saved by Gambit, who was not yet known by the X-Men. Years later, most of the surviving Morlocks (including Sarah) were apparently killed by Mikhail Rasputin, although they were actually brought to another dimension. There, Mikhail had established a citadel for himself on the top of a massive hill. The Social Darwinist philosophy of "survival of the fittest" was the only thing which governed the society. If someone could reach the summit of the hill they were considered "fit" and worthy of being part of Gene Nation. The former Morlock leader Callisto cared for Marrow during this period and displayed a maternal attitude towards the young mutant, although the two are not known to be biologically related. When her powers fully manifested she was forced to "up the hill", becoming more savage and killing her opponents to survive. When she managed to reach the top, Mikhail considered her fit to join his elite fighting team Gene Nation, which eventually became a terrorist group whose mission was to punish humans for their hatred towards mutants.

Marrow was later recruited by the most recent incarnation of Weapon X, who again normalized her appearance and her powers. She betrayed the Weapon X organization upon discovering their anti-mutant nature. She reformed the Gene Nation terrorist cell and, as their leader, led several terrorist attacks on Weapon X until the rest of the group was slaughtered by Agent Zero. Agent Zero left her alone, not wanting her to become a martyr, but he warned her that he would come after her again after he had hunted down the remaining members of Gene Nation.
Marrow has since come to associate with the terrorist X-Cell, confronting Siryn and M before they could assault Blob and Fatale. She still sported several bone growths on her forehead, but depowered, she's forced to use throwing knives as weapons.

MAGNETO

Magneto (born Max Eisenhardt) was a German Jew in Auschwitz Concentration Camp, his experiences there were the basis of his action in the decades to follow. He was a friend of Charles Xavier (around that time he discovered his mutant magnetism power) who would later become the founder of the X-Men, but parted ways due to their ideologies being too different. Some time later he formed the Brotherhood of Mutants as a mutant supremacy group which came into conflict with the X-Men a number of times, but has sometimes fought alongside them against a greater threat.

(MVC3) Though Magneto's involvement in the story is mostly unknown at this time, the third trailer shows him stealing a virus sample from Albert Wesker, possibly planning to use it to turn humanity into mutant beasts or killing the human populace, similar to his plans in the X-Men comics and movies, or perhaps to keep them from infecting the mutant populace in the process, however in the Extended Intro he's shown to be on Doctor Doom's side althought he may be "pretending" to be on his side and plotting his own plans. After defeating Galactus, Galactus offered a "gift" to recreate the utopia world, Taa II, Galactus's Homeworld before devour. This new Taa II is where all Mutants living on Earth can now freely leave Earth and prosper peacefully without any more discrimination.

JUGGERNAUT

The character, however, is vulnerable to mental attacks, a weakness that has been exploited via the removal of his helmet. The Juggernaut has circumvented this weakness by on occasion wearing a metal skullcap inside his main helmet. If Juggernaut loses his helmet he can recreate it by touching certain materials (as long as he possesses the full power of the gem). It is possible for an opponent with sufficient physical strength of their own to turn the Juggernaut's irresistibility against him, by redirecting his motion so he gets stranded in a position in which he has no purchase; both the Hulk and his son, Skaar, have managed this feat. Once, the entity Onslaught, which possessed unknowable psionic and reality-warping powers, somehow ripped the Crimson Gem out of the Juggernaut, subsequently trapping him inside.

ICEMAN

Iceman originated in X-Men: Children of the Atom and appeared again in Marvel vs Capcom 2: New age of Heroes. In both games he took no chip damage from projectiles. Bobby Drake discovered his mutant power to create ice while in his early teens, yet kept his condition hidden from everyone but his parents. Initially, Bobby was unable to stop feeling cold and shivering, but soon managed to keep it under control. When a bully named Rocky Beasely and his friends attacked Bobby and his then-girlfriend, Judy Harmon, the youngster panicked. To save Harmon, Bobby temporarily encased Rocky in ice, thus revealing his abilities for all to see. Believing the boy to be a menace, the townspeople organized a lynch mob. They broke into Bobby's home and overpowered him, but the local sheriff took the teenager into custody for his own protection. Meanwhile, the situation had come to the attention of Professor Charles Xavier, the telepathic mentor of the team of teenage mutant super heroes the X-Men.

Robert "Bobby" Louis Drake, aka Iceman, is a mutant with the ability to lower both his external and internal body temperature, thereby radiating intense cold from his body. He is capable of lowering the temperature to -105 degrees Farenheit, although he was able to reach absolute zero when Human Torch drew all of the ambient heat away from him. His most commonly known ability is the power to create unusually hard ice constructs, such as slides, shields, ladders, bats, etc. He is able to alter the appearance of his ice form, reconstruct any part of himself that has been shattered, and enhance his strength and durability, all by using the water molecules in the air. Like Colossus, Bobby can switch between ice and human form at will. Finally, he has the ability to travel through bodies of water by merging his molecules with the water.

GAMBIT

Gambit is gifted with the ability to charge inanimate objects with explosive kinetic energy. He is most often seen charging ordinary playing cards with said energy. Originally, Gambit needed to maintain physical contact with the object. However after surgery performed by Mister Sinister, he can charge anything simply by looking at it and concentrating, including living tissue.

Gambit’s reflexes and agility are greatly enhanced beyond a normal human’s, and he is able to use static energy to shield his mind from telepaths, even those as powerful as Professor Xavier and Emma Frost. Gambit is also able to exert a sort of hypnotic control over any living being by manipulating the static charges in their minds. He can force them to agree to with anything he says or does. However, more powerful minds have been able to resist Gambit’s charm.
Though most often seen with his signature bo staff, Gambit is also a skilled fencer, duelist and marksman, given his extreme dexterity when throwing his kinetic charged cards.

CYCLOPS

Scott Summers is the oldest of the mutant sons of Major Christopher Summers, a test pilot in the U.S. Air Force, and his wife Katherine Ann. When his father flew the family back from a vacation in his vintage private plane, a de Havilland Mosquito, the plane was attacked and set ablaze by a scout ship from the alien Shi'ar Empire. Katherine pushed Scott and Alex out the plane door with the only available parachute. The parachute was unable to slow their fall sufficiently to prevent Scott from suffering a head injury on landing (the injury damaged the part of Scott's brain that would have enabled him to control his optic blasts). This was also the first time Scott used his mutant power to slow their descent.

Cyclops possess the ability to emit scarlet beams of energy from his eyes. He constantly abosrbs ambient energy, such as sunlight, and converts it into his optic blasts. Due to a head injury recieved as a child he cannot shut off his power and thus must constantly wear his ruby-quartz visor or sun-glasses of the same material.
He is Ryu's original rival since the first debut of X-Men vs. Street Fighter.
With the exception of Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Cyclops had made appearances in all Marvel crossover games. The only non-playable role he has had in the series was as an assist character in Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes.

COLOSSUS

Piotr "Peter" Rasputin was born on a Soviet collective farm called the Ust-Ordynski Collective near Lake Baikal in Siberia. He lived there with his mother Alexandra, father Nikolai, and sister, Illyana. His older brother, Mikhail, had been a Russian cosmonaut and had apparently died in a rocket accident Peter's superhuman powers manifested during his adolescence while saving his sister from a runaway tractor. At first, Peter was content simply to use these powers to aid the other people of the collective; however he was soon contacted by Professor Charles Xavier, the founder of the X-Men. Xavier was recruiting a new team of X-Men to rescue the original team, most of whom had been captured by the sentient mutant island Krakoa.

In armored form, Colossus's has superhuman strength which enables him to lift atleast 100 tons under normal conditions. He has superhuman stamina which means that he will tire much more slowly than regular human beings and can continue exerting himself for hours without tiring. While in this state he also does not require food, water or air to sustain himself and can withstand high impact assaults as well as extreme temperatures from 70º above absolute zero (-390º F) to approximately 9000º F. Despite this near-invulnerability, however, it is still possible to injure him, and if knocked unconscious, Colossus reverts to his human form. In his metal form, Colossus bleeds pure energy when injured, and he has no organs that can be damaged. A particular flaw in his powers is that he must turn his entire body into metal ( for example he can not just change his arm into metallic form). In Colossus's metal shape, he is resistant to telepathy and other kinds of psionic attacks. Colossus is also an excellent hand-to-hand combatant, having received training from Wolverine and Cyclops . He also has had training in acrobatics and sword fighting from Nightcrawler. In his human form, he is exceptionally strong and fit, though not superhumanly so. He can lift about 700 pounds. He has also completed college-level courses at Xavier's school.
It is also worth noting that Colossus only uses these powers in violent situations with the greatest of reluctance. Instead, he feels it is his responsibility to use them for the betterment of others rather than for combat.

CABLE

Cable is Nathan Summers, the son of Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Madelyne Pryor (AKA the Goblyn Queen, a clone of Jean Grey produced by Mr. Sinister). Infected by a techno-organic virus by Apocalypse as a baby, Cable must use his telekinetic powers to keep the virus from ravaging his body. Thus in one of Cable's win poses, his arm succumbs to the virus and deforms.

Some of his special moves are : Gun Fire, Viper Beam, Running Fist, Psi-Charge, Electrap, and Scimitar Uppercut. Cables Hyper Combos are Hyper Viper and Time Flip. He got some Assist Moves too
A LP Viper Beam LP Viper Beam Hyper Viper
B HP Scimitar HP Scimitar Hyper Viper
Y LK Electrap LK Crackdown Hyper Viper
His B (anti-air) assist is considered his best assist, mostly because of his ability to use it as a counter and cancel into Hyper Viper. The A (projectile) assist can be used when more of a ground game is needed, and the Y (variable) assist can be used as a surprise assist.

APOCALYPSE

One day, he stumbled upon a spaceship that had belonged to an alien race known as the Celestials. Seeking to learn more about it, he tracked down time traveler Nathaniel Summers (Cable). The two fought, and En Sabah Nur nearly lost his life, but was rescued by Ozymandias, an ally of his. En Sabah Nur's blood had been infected with Summers' Techno-Organic Virus, which allowed him to become more powerful as well as interface with the ship's technology. He fashioned a high-tech suit of armor for himself that granted him unbelievable powers, and thus fully made the transition into Apocalypse, soon to be known by many names: The High Lord, The Forever Walker, The First One, Son of the Morning Fire, even Set, the Egyptian god of evil.
In 19th century England, Apocalypse met brilliant scientist and telepath Nathaniel Essex, who shared his love for mutant genetics. Apocalypse saw him as a worthy ally and, outfitting him with similar molecular shape-shifting powers to himself, transformed him into the sadistic Mr. Sinister.

Apocalypse later formed a group called The Horseman of Apocalypse, playing off the biblical concept of the Four Horseman: Plague, War, Famine, and Death. Though the roster has never been set in stone, its members have included Gambit, Angel (Archangel afterwards), Sunfire, Wolverine, Caliban, Deathbird, even the Incredible Hulk. Apocalypse was believed to be destroyed when Jean Grey psychically ripped his essence from his body, and Cable destroyed it with his own powerful telepathy. But he was later revived, and continues to plague the earth, not willing to be content until every living creature has bowed before him and pledged their undying allegiance.
Apocalypse is easily one of the most powerful mutants who ever lived. Apocalypse is an Alpha-Level mutant. After exposure to the Celestial Ship, all of Apocalypse's powers have been enhanced far beyond their original limits.
Apocalypse's original body was immortal, even before being modified by the Celestial ship, he had lived for thousands of years. Apocalypse can enter a coma-like state of suspended animation during which he may recover from any wounds with the assistance of his Celestial technology. The down side of his altering by the Celestials and his enhancement was that the techno-organic virus needed to allow this to happen ravaged his body requiring him to find new ones over the years.
