THARGAS ANVILMAR

Thargas Anvilmar is an Ironforge dwarf in service of king Magni Bronzebeard and has fought shoulder to shoulder with King Varian.

Anvilmar is also featured in DC Unlimited's World of Warcraft: Series 1 action figure set, where he appears to be wearing Destroyer Armor.

Thargas Anvilmar was sent by King Magni Bronzebeard to meet Varian Wrynn, Valeera Sanguinar and Broll Bearmantle at Menethil Harbor without knowing who they really were. After they landed, Thargas followed them to an inn where he helped the three companions fight a band from the Defias Brotherhood. He then told Varian and his friends about another "King Varian" who has returned to Stormwind.

When Thargas, Varian, Broll Bearmantle, and Valeera Sanguinar were travelling on their way to Ironforge they were attacked by a group of Dark Iron dwarves. When the heroes defeated them; their leader, Gunnar Flyntrock, told Thargas that his brother, Hjalmar Anvilmar, was captured by the Dark Iron dwarves at Thandol Span. The company then decided to go and rescue him.

At Thandol Span, they found Hjalmar held captive by Dark Iron dwarves under the command of Balgaras the Foul. Balgaras intended to kill Hjalmar by melting the Helm of the Anvilmars onto his face. However, Thargas cut his hand off before he could cast a fire spell, and Hjalmar was thus set free. With his other hand Balgaras tried to light one of the explosives, Hjalmar jumped to prevent it, and was mortally injured by the explosion. Before he died, he gave the Helm of the Anvilmars to Thargas telling him to save Thandol Span. In Hjalmar's name, Thargas killed many Dark Irons and helped save the span.

Afterwards, Thargas joined Varian's group and aided him in driving off Onyxia from Stormwind and assaulting Onyxia's Lair. After Onyxia was slain, Thargas departed with the Stormwind soldiers who were returning to the Eastern Kingdoms so that he could sort out the affairs involving his brother's death and his own estates. Varian thanked Thargas for his aid and friendship and told him that Anvilmar could always count on Stormwind as an ally.

Thargas will make his first World of Warcraft appearance as a quest giver in Cataclysm, sending adventurers to help in defending the Thandol Span and retaking Dun Modr.

MODIMUS ANVILMAR

Modimus Anvilmar was the high king of all the dwarves. The Bronzebeard, Wildhammer, and Dark Iron clans were united under his rule. He had closest ties to the Bronzebeard clan by blood and history. When he died, the War of the Three Hammers began. It is possible that pieces of Modimus' hammer, Hammer of the High King, were obtained by each of the leaders of the three major dwarf clans sometime after or during the War of the Three Hammers. The Bronzebeards kept the head intact missing its crystal which the Dark Irons put at the head of a staff while Wildhammers turned the handle into a scepter. However, the document that supposedly asserts this appears to be a fake.

Anvilmar, the town in the Coldridge Valley where dwarf and gnome adventurers begin their quests, is named after him.

The mighty statue of King Anvilmar is found at the city gates of Ironforge. It is a massive statue nearly 100 feet high. The dwarf depicted there wore intricate chain armor and held two great hammers on high. His mouth was open in a soundless battle-cry.. His statue can also be found in the Iron Dwarf city of Thor Modan.

MAGNI BRONZEHEAD

Magni Bronzebeard is the King of the dwarven kingdom of Khaz Modan, Thane of Ironforge, head of the Bronzebeard Clan, and head of the Senate of Ironforge.
The eldest of the three Bronzebeard brothers, Magni was destined to be the king under the mountain. Strong of arm and keen of mind, Magni loved his two brothers above all else in the world. From the time of his youth, Magni the prince was keenly aware of what would be expected of him in the future. This apparently intimidated him and he questioned if he could be the kind of leader Ironforge needed. He even privately wished that his father and brothers would outlive him, and thus their people would have a good king. To look upon the tower of strength and effective leader that King Magni is today, one can scarcely imagine that he was ever a prince full of doubt.

King Magni has several nasty abilities at his disposal including a powerful Thunderclap, Charge, and a massive knock back. In addition, he can launch players into the air, transform into an Avatar which increases his damage and armor, as well as summon guards to aid him. When his health drops low he heals himself by using an ability similar to Lay on Hands. Because Magni has a relatively small aggro range, 1 healer can drink and resurrect dead players while other still fight Magni.

In the Norse mythology, Magni is one of Thor's two sons, and one of the few gods who will survive the Ragnarok, and who will wield (along with his brother, Modi) his father's legendary hammer Mjolnir after Ragnarok.

Magni holds the title as King under the Mountain which is a reference to Tolkien's Middle Earth, where the dwarven rulers of the lonely mountain of Erebor was called by the same title. It should also be noted that Ironforge has some resemblance to how the mountain of Erebor is described in Tolkien's books.
