EMPEROR DAGRAN THAURISSAN

Emperor Dagran Thaurissan is a level 56 elite Dark Iron dwarf in the Blackrock Depths.

Dagran Thaurissan is the current ruler of the Dark Iron clan, a descendant of Emperor Thaurissan and Modgud. Even as the leader of his clan, he is, like all Dark Iron dwarves, a servant of Ragnaros. The Emperor rules his people not from the city founded by (and named for) his ancestor, but rather from the depths of Blackrock Mountain near the entrance to Ragnaros's domain, the Molten Core. The Emperor's Dark Irons swarm the depths of Blackrock Mountain, and have also been seen in the Searing Gorge to the north and the Burning Steppes to the south. He has also sent his emissaries and agents to the gnomish capital of Gnomeregan, apparently in an effort to back the self-proclaimed ruler of Gnomeregan, Sicco Thermaplugg.

The Emperor seduced King Magni Bronzebeard's daughter, Princess Moira Bronzebeard, and she is now pregnant with his child, who is half Bronzebeard dwarf and half Dark Iron dwarf, and the heir to both thrones of Shadowforge and Ironforge.

It is revealed in The Shattering: Prelude to Cataclysm that King Magni Bronzebeard sent a team to kill Emperor Thaurissan, and retrieve the previously thought to be ensorcelled Moira back to Ironforge. Yet Moira refused to come home and announced that she was pregnant, and that the death of her husband has left a terrible, fiery rage within her heart.

Dagran currently wields the legendary hammer Ironfoe, but not by legitimate means. The hammer's hereditary owner, Reginald Windsor was captured and imprisoned by the Dark Irons, his weapon claimed by Dagran.

KURDRAN WILDHAMMER

Kurdran Wildhammer is a level 70 quest ender located in Wildhammer Stronghold in Shadowmoon Valley.
Kurdran is well liked by his friends for his jolly personality and love for battle. He is a fierce warrior and does not like to be seen as a weakling, insisting to fight on despite being heavily wounded. Danath Trollbane was likely one of his closest friends and was whipped into frenzy hearing Kurdran's apparent death. Unlike many Wildhammers, he is not hostile towards wizards and spell-casters.

Kurdran and Sky'ree survived the destruction of Draenor and, after joining forces with the Naaru, have taken up residence in Outland. Kurdran is the Thane of Wildhammer Stronghold, the Alliance outpost in Shadowmoon Valley, west of the Black Temple. Though he does not start any quests, Kurdran ends News of Victory_(Alliance). Interestingly, though he is not the target of any PvP objective, he has a tremendous amount of HP, at 5588K, more than any faction leader.

FALSTAD WILDHAMMER

Falstad Wildhammer, also known as Falstad Dragonreaver, is the High Thane of the Wildhammer Clan and brother of the gryphon rider Kurdran Wildhammer. He rules the Wildhammer clan from Aerie Peak in the Hinterlands.

Falstad Dragonreaver was a noble gryphon rider of the Wildhammer dwarf clan of Hinterlands, commanding a small flight of such riders who patrolled the shores of Lordaeron for any hostile draconic activity after the Second War. Falstad and his comrades protected the town of Hasic from certain doom, and then transported human mage Rhonin and his companions across the Great Sea to Khaz Modan. During the journey, however, the group was ambushed and Falstad's kinsmen were killed. Nevertheless, at the incentive of Vereesa Windrunner, Falstad continued to Khaz Modan. Later, with the help of a clan of hill dwarves, Falstad reached Grim Batol and fought in the final battle there to free the Red Dragon Queen Alexstrasza.

Following the presumed death or retirement of High Thane Maz Drachrip, ruler of Aerie Peak and the Wildhammer Clan, Falstad succeeded him through hereditary monarchy as the High Thane and continues to rule the Wildhammer Clan to this day.

Falstad Wildhammer was to be seated in the Council of Three Hammers, but in the early Beta was replaced by Kurdran Wildhammer. At Blizzcon 2010 this alteration was raised and it was stated that Falstad should be reclaiming his seat. In Cataclysm Beta Build 13221 (after Blizzcon 2010), Falstad had returned and is accompanied by an NPC: Wildhammer Fact Checker, an homage to the person who pointed out that Falstad was missing.

THARGAS ANVILMAR

Thargas Anvilmar is an Ironforge dwarf in service of king Magni Bronzebeard and has fought shoulder to shoulder with King Varian.

Anvilmar is also featured in DC Unlimited's World of Warcraft: Series 1 action figure set, where he appears to be wearing Destroyer Armor.

Thargas Anvilmar was sent by King Magni Bronzebeard to meet Varian Wrynn, Valeera Sanguinar and Broll Bearmantle at Menethil Harbor without knowing who they really were. After they landed, Thargas followed them to an inn where he helped the three companions fight a band from the Defias Brotherhood. He then told Varian and his friends about another "King Varian" who has returned to Stormwind.

When Thargas, Varian, Broll Bearmantle, and Valeera Sanguinar were travelling on their way to Ironforge they were attacked by a group of Dark Iron dwarves. When the heroes defeated them; their leader, Gunnar Flyntrock, told Thargas that his brother, Hjalmar Anvilmar, was captured by the Dark Iron dwarves at Thandol Span. The company then decided to go and rescue him.

At Thandol Span, they found Hjalmar held captive by Dark Iron dwarves under the command of Balgaras the Foul. Balgaras intended to kill Hjalmar by melting the Helm of the Anvilmars onto his face. However, Thargas cut his hand off before he could cast a fire spell, and Hjalmar was thus set free. With his other hand Balgaras tried to light one of the explosives, Hjalmar jumped to prevent it, and was mortally injured by the explosion. Before he died, he gave the Helm of the Anvilmars to Thargas telling him to save Thandol Span. In Hjalmar's name, Thargas killed many Dark Irons and helped save the span.

Afterwards, Thargas joined Varian's group and aided him in driving off Onyxia from Stormwind and assaulting Onyxia's Lair. After Onyxia was slain, Thargas departed with the Stormwind soldiers who were returning to the Eastern Kingdoms so that he could sort out the affairs involving his brother's death and his own estates. Varian thanked Thargas for his aid and friendship and told him that Anvilmar could always count on Stormwind as an ally.

Thargas will make his first World of Warcraft appearance as a quest giver in Cataclysm, sending adventurers to help in defending the Thandol Span and retaking Dun Modr.

Muninn Magellas (sometimes spelled Munnin Magellas) is a level 60 Bronzebeard dwarf quest giver located in the Library in the Hall of Explorers in the dwarven city of Ironforge. He is affiliated with the Explorers' League Muninn Magellas has had an insatiable curiosity for history and arcane since he was a small boy. Back during the Second War, the intellectual dwarf named Munnin Magellas, had a vision of discovering the world’s and the dwarves secrets. It was his vision and drive that led to founding of the Explorers’ League. Now, as the patron of the Explorers' League, his childhood wish has come true. Magellas is responsible for mapping out the world and cataloging its various species, relics, and treasures for generations to come. Like King Magni, Magellas was grieved to hear of Brann's disappearance. Nevertheless, he is committed to steering the Explorers' League and gaining valuable insight on the mistakes of the past. He employs a small army of prospectors, and has sent his agents all over the world to gain knowledge and insight for his people.
Muninn Magellas is likely named for Muninn, one of the ravens of Odin in Norse mythology, and the famous explorer Ferdinand Magellan.

MODIMUS ANVILMAR

Modimus Anvilmar was the high king of all the dwarves. The Bronzebeard, Wildhammer, and Dark Iron clans were united under his rule. He had closest ties to the Bronzebeard clan by blood and history. When he died, the War of the Three Hammers began. It is possible that pieces of Modimus' hammer, Hammer of the High King, were obtained by each of the leaders of the three major dwarf clans sometime after or during the War of the Three Hammers. The Bronzebeards kept the head intact missing its crystal which the Dark Irons put at the head of a staff while Wildhammers turned the handle into a scepter. However, the document that supposedly asserts this appears to be a fake.

Anvilmar, the town in the Coldridge Valley where dwarf and gnome adventurers begin their quests, is named after him.

The mighty statue of King Anvilmar is found at the city gates of Ironforge. It is a massive statue nearly 100 feet high. The dwarf depicted there wore intricate chain armor and held two great hammers on high. His mouth was open in a soundless battle-cry.. His statue can also be found in the Iron Dwarf city of Thor Modan.

MAGNI BRONZEHEAD

Magni Bronzebeard is the King of the dwarven kingdom of Khaz Modan, Thane of Ironforge, head of the Bronzebeard Clan, and head of the Senate of Ironforge.
The eldest of the three Bronzebeard brothers, Magni was destined to be the king under the mountain. Strong of arm and keen of mind, Magni loved his two brothers above all else in the world. From the time of his youth, Magni the prince was keenly aware of what would be expected of him in the future. This apparently intimidated him and he questioned if he could be the kind of leader Ironforge needed. He even privately wished that his father and brothers would outlive him, and thus their people would have a good king. To look upon the tower of strength and effective leader that King Magni is today, one can scarcely imagine that he was ever a prince full of doubt.

King Magni has several nasty abilities at his disposal including a powerful Thunderclap, Charge, and a massive knock back. In addition, he can launch players into the air, transform into an Avatar which increases his damage and armor, as well as summon guards to aid him. When his health drops low he heals himself by using an ability similar to Lay on Hands. Because Magni has a relatively small aggro range, 1 healer can drink and resurrect dead players while other still fight Magni.

In the Norse mythology, Magni is one of Thor's two sons, and one of the few gods who will survive the Ragnarok, and who will wield (along with his brother, Modi) his father's legendary hammer Mjolnir after Ragnarok.

Magni holds the title as King under the Mountain which is a reference to Tolkien's Middle Earth, where the dwarven rulers of the lonely mountain of Erebor was called by the same title. It should also be noted that Ironforge has some resemblance to how the mountain of Erebor is described in Tolkien's books.

BRANN BRONZEBEARD

Brann Bronzebeard is the youngest of the three Bronzebeard brothers, with former King Magni Bronzebeard and Muradin Bronzebeard being his elders. Brann is an active member of the Explorers' League, following closely in the footsteps of his brother Muradin. One of the greatest explorers to ever wander the lands of Azeroth, Brann is recognized and welcomed across the known world. The warm, courageous dwarf has made friends and acquaintances in nearly every charted land — and presumably those uncharted as well. Brann has spent many years mapping out the remote corners and hidden nooks of the Eastern Kingdoms for his beloved Explorers' Guild. With the recent discovery of Kalimdor, Brann is one of the first dwarves to tread the unknown paths of the ancients

Brann is one of the founders of the Explorers' Guild, along with Samul Strangehands. He is one of the greatest explorers, anthropologists, archaeologists, taxonomists, linguists, etc, to ever wander the lands of Azeroth. At different times during his journey, he has traveled with companions including his beloved pet gorilla, Glibb, and his trusty gryphon, Gryphadin.
Brann is heavily involved in an Alliance quest chain that starts in Frosthold, the city of Frost dwarves in Storm Peaks. The first quest is given by Archaeologist Andorin, called On Brann's Trail. For lore fans, these quests are well worth finishing for the in-game scene at the end.
Brann also appears inside the Halls of Stone in Ulduar, the Titan city in Storm Peaks. He is involved in the escort quest in the Tribunal of Ages. Brann does not appear to have any qualms as to who comes to his aid while he is in Ulduar, as both Alliance and Horde are able to interact with him.

MURADIN

Muradin Bronzebeard is a hero of the Alliance, the younger brother of the dwarven King Magni Bronzebeard and the older brother of the renowned explorer Brann Bronzebeard. Muradin was believed to have perished in Northrend when the young prince Arthas Menethil claimed the runeblade Frostmourne. However, recent events have indicated Muradin survived this brush with death, and wandered the wastes of Northrend with no memory of the incident until a chance encounter several years later.
Muradin is a kindhearted dwarf, fond of good ale and good company. He is a steadfast ally and a ferocious enemy. His years abroad have tempered his Ironforge accent, and he carries himself proudly — he represents both the Bronzebeards and all of Khaz Modan. He enjoys a challenge, whether in exploration, game or battle. Muradin relishes a good fight and willingly throws himself against his enemies. A dwarf of many interests, he appreciates foremost ancient architecture, new lands, strange creatures and the mysterious Titans. Muradin possesses high morals and ethics, always helping those in need and smashing evil whenever he finds it

Muradin begins a battle by activating his stoneskin ability and grabbing his long rifle, blasting away at the most powerful opponent he can see. When the enemy closes to within range of his hammer, he attempts to stun opponents with his Storm Bolt feat before charging into melee, activating his stone flesh ability at the same time. Against a single opponent, or when fighting alongside powerful allies, he uses his Bash feat to keep foes out of the action.
