DAZZLER

DAZZLER

A mutant with the ability to convert sound vibrations into light and energy beams.Despite the fact that Dazzler was originally commissioned as a disco singer, the character shifted to other musical genres, including rock and adult contemporary. She starred in a self-titled solo series in the early 1980s, and later joined the cast of the X-Men. She was briefly a member of the spin-off group Excalibur but now has re-joined the X-Men.
File:Dazzler wiki.png

Dazzler is a mutant with the ability to transduce sonic vibrations which reach her body into various types of light. This ability seems to operate over a great range of frequencies, including the audible spectrum, and a great variation of sound pressure levels regardless of the complexity, dissonance, or randomness of the sound. For example, a car crash and a symphonic passage of equal duration will both produce usable incoming acoustic vibrations.
Dazzler, however, prefers utilizing the sound of music, particularly that which is rhythmically sustained. Not only is music more pleasant to her ears, but the steady beat of contemporary music provides a more constant source of sound to convert. The precise means by which this conversion process works is as yet unknown. Left undirected, Dazzler's light will radiate from her body in all directions, producing regular flashes of white light. By conscious control over the light she produces, she can control its direction, frequency (color), amplitude (intensity), and duration.
Since studying with the X-Men, she has become adept at directing her blinding strobe light blast from her eyes. Dazzler has also learned how to create a destructive shield about herself with laser light that can vaporize oncoming projectiles. The most powerful manifestation of her abilities is a concentrated beam of solid photons she usually fires from her right index finger. The beam is extremely powerful and as a consequence uses a great deal of her energy reserves. She has since learned how to produce these blasts without draining herself, while still providing them with considerable power. She has also recently shown the ability to form her photon emissions into solid constructs, such as swords and staffs. Dazzler's potential to convert sound to light is unlimited. Curiously, she cannot use her own unamplified voice as a source of sound for her transduction abilities. Dazzler's body, especially her eyes, shields itself against any injurious effects of her light transducing abilities and against those of bright lights in general. Her ability to transduce sound also protects her from being deafened by loud noises.

Dazzler is a highly skilled athlete, and has become an excellent hand-to-hand combatant thanks to her training with the X-Men, and with the Gladiators. In addition, she is a talented singer, actress, and dancer. She is also a highly accomplished roller skater and can move at high speed; she occasionally wears a pair of roller blades which magnetically adheres to her boots.

Thanks to Professor X , Dazzler's costume contains devices that enable her to store sonic energy more efficiently and to gauge and focus the light she generates with greater skill. She formerly carried a customized radio/cassette tape player to provide her with sound until she acquired the sound storing devices in her costume.

PSYLOCKE

PSYLOCKE

Psylocke (Elizabeth "Betsy" Braddock, sometimes spelled as Elisabeth) is a fictional character depicted in comic books published by Marvel Comics, most notably those comics featuring the superhero team the X-Men.
She was initially a supporting character in the adventures of her fraternal twin brother, Captain Britain, briefly substituting for him in the role.Later, she became the mutant superheroine Psylocke. Originally presented as a telepath, the character was eventually written as unexplainedly possessing telekinesis. Psylocke later possesses both abilities.
http://www.sfgalleries.net/art/msh/series1/psylocke.gif
Psylocke originally possessed the power of telepathy, she could read and project thoughts over long distances; control minds; subdue and tap into other's powers; affect people's memories; project mental illusions; project psychic waves (psywaves); and generate psi-bolts that could stun, injure, or kill others. She could also project her astral self, and the astral bodies of other people, into the astral plane. She could scan entire towns with her mind, and leaf through the psyches of the inhabitants of a city to learn of their condition or intentions. She could also probe individuals to check up on their status.
http://th09.deviantart.net/fs42/300W/f/2009/159/d/3/d37df7ad901efd5d6ce3609d45b00983.png
When using her powers, a butterfly-shaped energy aura would appear around her face. It was never truly made clear in the comic books by the writers whether this was something that could be perceived by others or if this was simply an 'effect' to show when Psylocke was using her powers to the reading audience (although it was implied that it could be). This 'butterfly' (sometimes depicted as having eyes in its wings) was also the form Psylocke usually took when manifesting her astral form, both on the astral plane, and in the physical world; although she occasionally used an illusory image of her physical body. After her transformation, Psylocke's psi-form changed to reflect her new Asian appearance.

Psylocke has been classified as a master martial artist, though the specific fighting arts she has mastered have never been revealed. Psylocke's fighting skills and techniques have been shown to surpass those of the average Hand ninja, or Crimson Dawn Undercloak, and have been said to rival those of a ninja master.

MAGNETO

MAGNETO

Magneto is a fictional character that appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics.
A powerful mutant with the ability to generate and control electromagnetic forces, Magneto has been the X-Men's most prominent enemy ever since his first appearance. In his early appearances, his motives were bent on megalomania, but writers have since fleshed out his character and origin, revealing him to be a Jewish Holocaust survivor whose actions are driven by the purpose of protecting the mutant race from suffering a similar fate. His role in comics have varied from supervillain to anti-hero to even hero.
http://marvel.com/universe3zx/images/thumb/2/2e/MagnetoUltimate442.JPG/440px-MagnetoUltimate442.JPG

The full extent of Magneto's power has been greatly expanded upon in the years since he was first introduced. At a basic level, however, Magneto has the ability to manipulate the electromagnetic force to achieve a wide range of effects.

Such effects include the creation of force-fields which can selectivelly block out matter and energy (while they usually allows sound and visible light to pass through, so Magneto can interact with other characters, they can also shut out sonic blasts and shockwaves, as well as lasers and nuclear explosions). Thanks to this, Magneto is invulnerable to most harm when his personal field is active and can survive in deep space.

http://www.superherotimes.com/news/images/Magneto.jpg

He can freely manipulate electromagnetic energy in all frequencies of the spectrum; control and create electromagnetic fields and generate massive EMPs. He has also been depicted using his powers to affect both magnetic and nonmagnetic materials down to the sub-atomic level, although element transmutation strains him significantly and it seems a lot easier for him to manipulate the former. He has levitated objects as heavy as a 30,000 ton nuclear submarine and pulled a large amount of asteroids from their orbits in the solar system's asteroid belt to entirely block sunlight from reaching the earth; the maximum quantity of mass that he can affect at one time is unknown.

Magneto has been consistently and frequently depicted as resisting all but the strongest or most unexpected telepathic attacks. Over the years a number of explanations has been proposed for this, such as: anti-telepathy technology wired into his helmet, latent telepathic powers (during the Secret Wars saga), some physical aspect of his electromagnetic powers that can interfere with telepathy (he once used the earth's magnetic field to dampen the powers of all telepaths within his reach), or sheer willpower. In his early appearances, Magneto was also able to engage in astral projection.

http://www.hip2b2.com/images/uploaded_images/magneto.JPG

In addition to his powers, Magneto is also a genius with competence in various fields of advanced science, especially in genetic manipulation, physics, engineering, and other fields of technology. He has invented advanced weaponry, space stations, and intelligent superhuman lifeforms. Magneto is also a master strategist with extensive combat experience capable of surviving or even winning against what would appear to be a superior force. Finally, he has had extensive combat training, though he prefers to use his powers in combat situations.

THUNDERBIRD

THUNDERBIRD

Thunderbird (John Proudstar) is a fictional character, a Marvel Comics superhero who was briefly a member of the X-Men.An Apache, Thunderbird possesses superhuman athletic ability. He was a short time member of the "Second Genesis" group of X-Men gathered together in Giant-Size X-Men #1 but died on their second mission.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/75/Thunderb1.gif

Thunderbird is a mutant that possesses superhuman strength (sufficient to rip apart a fighter jet with his bare hands), speed (he is fast enough to outrun a bison, possibly much faster), stamina, and durability due to his dense musculature. His senses are also enhanced, enabling him to become a highly adept tracker.

COLOSSUS

COLOSSUS

Colossus (Piotr Nikolaievitch Rasputin) is a fictional character, a superhero in the Marvel Comics universe. . A Russian mutant, the character is a member of the X-Men, and is by far the physically strongest X-Man. Even without his powers he still cuts a physically imposing figure standing at 7'5". Throughout the series he has been portrayed as a quiet, shy character, honest and innocent. He's now a man without a family, having lost all whom he's ever loved including his parents, brother, sister and even Kitty PrYde , his primary romantic interest. He has had a fairly consistent presence in X-Men-related comic books since his debut. Also a talented artist, he only reluctantly agrees to use his powers in combat, feeling it is his responsibility to use his abilities for the betterment of human and mutant-kind.

http://jjinbeat.com/Cap/StarSpangledSite/Colossus-Excalibur.jpg

Colossus is a mutant that has the ability to transform his entire body into a form of 'organic steel', with properties analogous to osmium but of still unknown composition. Colossus cannot transform a portion of his body into this armored state; he must either transform completely or remain within his normal state. When he transforms, he gains around a foot in height and his weight is at least doubled. In his armored form, Colossus possesses superhuman levels of strength, which currently slightly exceeds that of The Thing, as well as superhuman stamina and durability.

http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/marveldatabase/images/5/51/Colossus.jpeg

His physical strength is currently greater than when he first joined the X-Men, since he was a teenager at the time. While in his armored form, Colossus requires no food, water, or even oxygen to sustain himself, and is extremely resistant to injury. He is capable of withstanding great impacts, large caliber bullets, falling from tremendous heights, temperature extremes of hot and cold, electricity, and certain magical attacks. It has been shown that he is vulnerable to the anti-metal vibranium in his metal form, his body instinctively shifting to human form when faced with a vibranium weapon.
Colossus is also an excellent hand-to-hand combatant, having received training from Wolverine and Cyclops. He also has had training in acrobatics and sword fighting from Night Crawler . In his human form, he is exceptionally strong and fit, though not superhumanly so. He has also completed college-level courses at Xavier's school.

SUNFIRE

SUN FIRE

Sunfire (Shiro Yoshida) is a fictional character, a mutant superhero in the Marvel Comics Universe and former member of the X-Men
Sunfire is a temperamental and arrogant Japanese mutant who can generate superheated plasma and fly. Not suited for teamwork, Sunfire was only briefly a member of the X-Men and has kept limited ties to the team since. He has had some presence in the greater Marvel Universe.

http://comicbookbeginners.info/files/xmencostumes/giant-size/sunfire-bigcostume01.jpg

Sunfire is a mutant with the ability to absorb solar radiation, and convert it to ionize matter into a fiery plasma state which bursts into flame when exposed to oxygen. He can release this energy though his hands as blasts of searing heat, deadly radiation, explosive concussive force, or simple flames. By ionizing the air around him, he can surround himself with an aura of heat intense enough to melt steel, or fly by focusing his aura downwards in a tight stream of ionized gas to propel him though the air like a rocket. Sunfire can see heat, by shifting his vision from visible light to infrared. Sunfire has the ability to form a psionic force field while using his plasma as protection from heat and radiation, both that of his own generation and that from outside sources.

http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/2532/149033-160452-sunfire_large.jpg

Sunfire lost his powers to Rogue but after his transformation into Famine, a Horseman of Apocalypse, his powers were artificially returned through technological means, and he could now also use them to create flashes of light that affected the sections of the human brain which control hunger, causing any people who saw his light flashes to feel as if they were starving.

Shiro also seems to be quite an accomplished martial artist. He has displayed impressive hand to hand skills on several occasions and stated that he didn't need to employ his powers in order to defeat mere Hand ninjas. He is trained in karate and Japanese Samurai swordsmanship, and kendo. He is also an expert in the combat use of his superhuman powers. He has at least peak human strength and endurance.

BANSHEE

BANSHEE

Banshee (Sean Cassidy) is a Marvel Comics superhero, a member of the X-Men.
An Irish mutant, Banshee possesses a "sonic scream," capable of harming enemies’ auditory systems and causing physical vibrations. He is named after the banshee, a legendary ghost from Irish mythology, said to possess a powerful cry, although the banshee spirit is invariably female, something the character's creators were unaware of.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/3/34/Banshee_Costume.jpg/250px-Banshee_Costume.jpg

A former Interpol agent and NYPD officer, Banshee was always a decade older than most of the X-Men and had only a relatively short tenure as a full-time X-Man. He was, however, a mentor of the 1990s-era junior team Generation X.
Banshee is a mutant whose superhumanly powerful lungs, throat, and vocal cords could produce a sonic scream for various effects, in concert with limited, reflexive psionic powers which directed his sonic vibrations. He could hover or fly at the speed of sound, and could carry at least one passenger. He could overwhelm listeners with deafening noise, stun them with tight-focus low-frequency sonic blasts (effective even against shielded ears by penetrating the skull via bone conduction), plunge them into a hypnotic trance, disorient them, nauseate them, or simply render them unconscious. Using sonic waves, he could rapidly vibrate himself or other masses at will. He could generate sonic blasts which struck with tremendous concussive force, liquefying or outright disintegrating targets at his highest levels of power. By radiating sound waves outward and reading the feedback, he could locate and analyze unseen objects in a sonar-like fashion. By modulating his scream's harmonics, he could confuse most scanning equipment. He could instinctively analyze, replicate, and block sonic waves or vibrations from other sources.

http://www.splashcomics.de/images/portraits/charaktere/banshee01.jpg

A gifted detective, veteran undercover operative, and formidable unarmed combatant, Cassidy was an excellent marksman and a competent amateur machine-smith, well-versed in combat strategy & tactics, and teamwork drills, from his training at Interpol. An effective educator, organizer, and lobbyist, he was also an avid American country music aficionado and skillful amateur piano player. As Cassidy, he wielded conventional firearms, sometimes loaded with explosive "micro-bombs." As Banshee, he wore synthetic costuming designed to resist air friction, usually including underarm wings that helped him glide on air currents and his own sonic waves. The "ribbons" on Banshee's costume (a visual trademark of the character) aid him in his flight.

Do You Care?

Why not? Why? There are so many things that happen, and so many facts ... but really, how much of all this affects you or that you can affect?

dNeero is going to add "Do You Care?" conversations to it's already successful "SpitzTunes" series. We'll look at the news from many sources ... if you have a favorite online source, please let us know.

We'll always end with the question "What do you care about most right now?"

HAVOC

HAVOC

Havok (Alexander "Alex" Summers) is a fictional character, a mutant superhero in the Marvel Comics Universe and member of the X-Men.
Havok is the son of Corsair and brother of Cyclops and Vulcan.
Havok generates powerful “plasma blasts”, an ability he has had difficulty controlling. He is the younger brother of the X-Men’s Cyclops and older brother of Vulcan. He often resents Cyclops’ authoritative attitude and reputation as a model X-man.

http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/marveldatabase/images/thumb/7/74/Havok_(Alex_Summers)_018.jpg/200px-Havok_(Alex_Summers)_018.jpg

In contrast, Havok and his longtime love interest Polaris have had a love/hate relationship with the team, often finding themselves roped into it. Both were also members of the 1990s-era Pentagon-sponsored mutant team X-Factor. After X-Factor disbanded, Havok starred in Mutant X, a series in which he explored a strange alternate reality. He has since returned to the X-Men, later taking over his father's role as leader of the Starjammers to bring Vulcan's reign over the Shi'ar to an end.
Havok is a mutant possessing the power to absorb ambient cosmic energy, process it and emanate it from his body as waves of energy that heat the air in the path, turning it into plasma in the form of a blast or discharge, with a tell-tale concentric circle pattern. These waves will emanate from his body in all directions unless he purposefully tries to channel them in a single direction, usually along the length of his arms. This results in control over an extremely powerful sort of destructive force. He is immune to the adverse effects of most forms of radiation and heat. In the past, he was not entirely able to control this ability, which made him a danger to those around him unless he wore a special containment suit equipped with special sensors for measuring and controlling his power output. Havok is immune to his own powers and to those of his brother Scott. He is resistant but not immune to Vulcan's powers.

POLARIS

POLARIS

Polaris (Lorna Dane) is a Marvel Comics superhero, a member of the X-Men. Created by writer Arnold Drake and artist Jim Steranko, she first appeared in X-Men #49 (October 1968). A mutant, Polaris can control magnetism. She has a long-held suspicion that Magneto is her biological father. She has had a complicated long term relationship with the X-Man Havok, to whom she was engaged. As the daughter of Magneto she is the half sister of the scarlet witch and Quicksilver.

http://z.about.com/d/comicbooks/1/0/M/R/polarishavok.jpg

Polaris' mutant powers, which were originally dormant, enabled her to sense and control magnetism, including manipulating metals which are susceptible to that force. She can also manipulate the Earth's magnetic field to allow herself to fly, generate magnetic energy pulses, and create force fields. By concentrating, Polaris can perceive the world around her solely as patterns of magnetic and electrical energy. She can perceive the natural magnetic auras surrounding living beings as well. She has bright green hair, the first indication of her mutation. At first, she dyed her hair brown to hide this. In recent comics, she appears with her characteristic green hair.

Earlier in her history, Polaris lost her magnetism power, but gained the ability to absorb negative emotions from the environment and use it as strength, endurance, invulnerability, and the ability to temporarily increase her height and mass. She also became more violent during this time, presumably because of the negative emotions she was storing within. Those around her also became more volatile and aggressive. Under the Shadow King's influence, the range of this effect was vastly increased, reaching at least from Scotland to Egypt. She eventually lost these additional powers and her original magnetic powers returned.

Lorna possesses expertise in geophysics, and has earned a Masters degree in that field.

CHANGELING

CHANGELING

Kevin Sydney is a fictional character that has been a member of the X-Men in comic book stories published by Marvel Comics.
Kevin Sydney first appeared as the Changeling, a mutant shapeshifter. He was a short-lived X-Men adversary who, off-panel, joined Professor X's efforts and died shortly after, making him the first member of the X-Men to die in action.
Later a character named Morph in the 1990s was based upon the earlier character of Changeling. The two remain distinct characters in personality and history.
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/8829/MorphExile.jpg

Kevin Sydney is a mutant metamorph with the ability to alter his physical appearance and voice at will to resemble that of any person he chooses. His power could also transform the appearance of his costume as well, which was made of unstable molecules.
He also has limited telepathic abilities which (in the original timeline) were enhanced by Professor X. As a side effect he also gained limited telekinetic abilities
Kevin Sydney is also a skilled actor, and is a highly trained and efficient organizer of subversive activities.
He carried various advanced weaponry of alien Siri design belonging to Factor Three, including a ray gun carried in a holster at his side.
Image:ChangelingC.jpg

Changeling is the character from the main Marvel Universe, Earth-616. However, the character's reinvention as Morph in the X-Men animated series raised his profile such that alternate versions of the character (also named Morph) began to appear in stories set in other universes.

MIMIC

MIMIC

Mimic (Calvin Montgomery Rankin) is a Marvel Comics fictional character who was briefly a member of the X-Men in the 1960s. He was then the first character to be added to the team after the original line-up.

An alternate reality version of Mimic became a popular member of the Exiles, the reality-hopping team

http://minimatefactory.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/mimic_001.jpg

The Mimic is able to copy the knowledge, skills, and powers (if any) of every individual within a certain range of him; different sources list this as anywhere from several feet to a mile radius. This applies to both superpowered and "normal" abilities, as shown when he duplicated Kitty Pryde's ninja training. He has shown the capacity to manifest numerous powers at the same time, and since he also absorbs knowledge, he can immediately use copied powers with the same skill level as the original owner. However, he occasionally shows difficulty in juggling multiple powers, and his body can be overloaded by absorbing too many at once. Usually the Mimic loses his duplicated abilities once out of range of the owner, but due to the length of time spent with them, his body permanently retains the powers of the original five X-Men: Angel, The Beast, Cyclops, Iceman and Marvel Girl . (The High Evolutionary's temporary elimination of the mutant gene once erased these powers from the Mimic's genetic template, but they appear to have returned since.) Thus, he has the powers of flight (granted by angelic wings) of Angel, the increased strength and agility of Beast (complete with enlarged hands and feet), the optic blasts of Cyclops (although lacking Cyclops' brain damage, Mimic is able to control them), the temperature manipulation of Iceman, and the telekinesis of Jean Grey.
